Corporate Training: Corporate Action Learning Courses

IIM provides tailored corporate management training programs for senior, middle and line management teams. IIM corporate management training programs are based on proprietary action-learning model (ALM). Action Learning is an organizational change and development tool. The change program is implemented via a combination of expert education, advisory process and collaboration facilitation. Action Learning programs are customized to address specific organizational and team development needs.

Custom management training development:
Before designing a training program, an
IIM advisor will understand client's development objectives and performance targets then s/he will work with client's team to design the most suitable program. The resultant program content, methods and duration will be tailored to meet participants' needs and budget. The program can vary in duration from 1 week to 1 year.

What is Organizational Action Learning?

Action Learning is an experiential educational process whereby the participants collaborate on action programs to improve business performance. This is done in conjunction with others, in small groups called action learning teams. It is proposed as particularly suitable for organizations, as it enables each manager to reflect on and review the actions they have taken and the learning points arising. This should then guide future actions and improve their performance.

Professor Reginald Revans, coined the term action learning to describe  an educational method that he developed in the UK in the 1940s.

The Action learning method differs with the traditional teaching methods that focus on the memorization and presentation of knowledge and skills, by focusing on experiential reflection as a major learning tool. Revans argued against the overvalue of the traditional "chalk and talk" management education and he believes that people learn most effectively not from books or lectures but from sharing real problems/projects. He called it  "action learning."

The contribution of Revans is being seen today through initiatives in leadership development working towards organization development. Many universities and management consultants developing new approaches to the education of leaders interested in work-based learning.
