		PRESS RELEASE For Immediate Release: (Milan, Italy Aug 22, 2005) - Participative Approach to Global Disease Management. (PARADIGMA). A multinational Euro-Mediterranean consortium announced today the launch of the PARADIGMA portal at http://www.paradigmaeumed.org. The first international seminar to be held in Milan on the 19th and 20th of September 2005. The main objective of PARADIGMA is not to give complete answers to global health care needs, but to provide a startup model and tools for further development and or application in different areas. PARADIGMA project will develop and demonstrate the use of Internet based platform to share scientific resources and findings in the treatment of major diseases. In the first phase the project will focus on four clinical pathways: Colorectal cancer Infant death reduction Intensive care unit best practices Prophylaxis of thromboembolism and monitoring of anticoagulant treatment (blood clotting) The internet portal goal is to provide effective and affordable platform of information and collaboration services supporting the actors of health care systems from the participating countries. According to Med Yones, IIM president, "Although the initial phase of the pilot project covers the Euro-Mediterranean community, the project is open to new private, public and governmental partners from other regions. Any organization that can contribute to the development and sustainability of the project is invited to join the consortium" About Paradigma: PARADIGMA is non-profit pilot e-health networks research project, co-funded by European Community under the EUMEDIS Initiative and by 26 consortium partners from 10 countries. About EUMEDIS – Euro-Mediterranean Information Society Initiative is a multi-billion Euro research program that aims at developing and leveraging technology management best practices in socio-economic development across the region in five sectors including e-learning, small business enterprise creation, e-health, e-commerce and e-tourism.
