IIM Legal Notice

Submitting Content to IIM

  1. You will only submit content that is fully owned by you or for which you have full copyrights to the material
  2. By submitting content to IIM, including but not limited to, the annual management paper contest, you automatically grant IIM a royalty free, perpetual, non-exclusive right and license to use, reproduce, publish, and distribute such content online or in any form or media.

Others' Copyrights

  1. IIM policy protects author's and researcher's rights. If you believe that there is a missing reference to an original work in IIM publications, including but not limited to, the annual management paper contest,  then please contact IIM with a proof of work, date  of publishing and exact reference to the  text concerned. IIM will promptly remove any material that is determined to be infringing upon the rights of others. 
  2. To file the copyright notification, you must be either the copyright owner of the work or an individual authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. 
  3. Your notification must include:
    • Specific identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity. You must include sufficient information, such as a specific URL, publisher or other specific identification, for us to locate the material.
    • Information for us to be able to contact the claimant (e.g., email address, phone, fax number and address).
    • A statement that the claimant believes that the use of the material has not been authorized by the copyright owner or an authorized agent.
    • A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and that the claimant is, or is authorized to act on behalf of, the copyright owner.

IIM Copyrights

  1. All IIM's website content is protected by US and International copyright laws. Any use of the material other than as authorized under this license is prohibited.
  2. Users are not permitted to download or use IIM material or contents without explicit written permission from IIM. 
  3. For IIM customer, IIM grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use IIM's resource and courses for an individual use for a fee and under the terms described in this agreement. Customers  with permission to use IIM content, do so only for individual educational use.
  4. Users may not copy or distribute any IIM material without explicit written permission from IIM. 
  5. In using the materials you warrant to the IIM that you will not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of IIM or its authors.
  6. Users are not permitted to make any derivative works without prior IIM written consent . Derivative works are IIM materials that have been edited, translated, combined with someone else’s materials, reformatted, or changed in any other way.
  7. While some parts of IIM website are made publicly-accessible, they are not in public domain - the vast majority of the images, texts, audios and videos are copyrighted to IIM and respective authors
  8. All materials including courses, e-books, texts and images may not be re-published or redistribute in print or electronic, or any other form without a written permission from the IIM.

IIM Internal Copyrights Policy Statement
  1. Although IIM encourages its Advisors and Staff to engage in a wide variety of activities related to education and research, it respects the legal right to intellectual and creative property in all media.  Such educational activities must therefore be performed within the bounds of copyright law. 
  2. IIM does not support unauthorized duplication or distribution in any form. Advisors who disregard the copyright policy and law are in violation of IIM policy, do so at their own risk, and assume all liability. 
  3. While IIM Advisors may refer students to publicly available resources, IIM Advisors my not Produce/Copy/Print any third-party educational materials with out permission from the authors.
IIM Internal Copyright Clearance Procedures
  1. Advisor/Staff should review the copyright content (if any) of class packets and submit the appropriate form(s) and information to the copyright coordinator
  2. The copyright coordinator must obtain written permission from the copyright holder before the material can be reproduced and subsequently sold.
  3. Acquisition of copyright permission is often a complex and time-consuming process; therefore, adequate time should be allowed for processing.  Some permissions are granted immediately and others may take up to ten weeks.
Prohibitions and Areas of Caution
  1. Only IIM developed course materials maybe systematically duplicated and are sold commercially to IIM clients. 
  2. IIM policy does not permit educational materials to be sold directly by the Advisors
  3. IIM course material do not fall under open license or fair use guidelines and Advisors must obtain copyright clearance from IIM.
  4. The same rule applies to using third party educational materials. If an Advisor intends to use materials not owned by IIM, they must first contact IIM to obtain copyright clearance from the publisher.
  5. Advisors/staff that utilize copiers or take materials to off-campus vendors for reproduction assume all responsibility and liability for copyright compliance.
  6. The Berne Convention Act of 1988 qualifies all authored works as being copyrighted and does not required display of the familiar copyright notice.  Works distributed after March 1, 1989, do not required copyright notice.  As a result, it is necessary to assume that all works are protected by copyright laws unless they are exempted by fair use or are defined as within the public domain.
